110 years of God’s faithfulness at Basso

Basso church has been part of the Bassendean community since 1913, when their original timber chapel was erected in one day. 110 years later, on Sunday 12th February, Basso held the official opening of their new auditorium.

Celebrating the opening was Les Butcher (pictured), pointing to a photo of the congregation and himself as a baby in about 1940. Les is pointing to himself being held by his brother with their mother standing next to them. His Dad was taking the photo. This mural was used as inspiration during the renovations but equally inspiring is Les himself, who continually attends church faithfully each week.

The redevelopment took over 16 months and totalled close to $2.0m. It has created a new, larger chapel that seats up to 350 attendees in conjunction with upgrades to offices and the kitchen area to cater for community events. The existing chapel has been retained for special events and for use as an overflow auditorium. CCFS is delighted to have partnered with Basso Church through the provision of funding for the redevelopment.

We pray that God continues to bring the increase to this wonderful church.
